Cerridwen of Tourmaline: Black Crystal Protector and Warrioress

As Cerridwen’s Seasonal Spiral begins to rotate towards the North, we welcome & invoke Cerridwen of Air.  Alban Arthuan, Wintertime, the season of inspiration and intuition, we align in our presence with one of our Beloved Goddess’ ruling crystals at this time ~ Black Tourmaline.

This stone terminates into very long shiny columns in the form of vertically-striated prismatic crystals. It acts to clear, maintain and stimulate energy. It can be used to diminish fear and encourage self-confidence and  feeling collected & connected!

 Black Tourmaline is an active clearing and grounding stone. Another name for it is Schorl~ The Spiritual  Warrior Stone, also called Warriorite, and all of our brothers and sisters in the Cerridwen Crew are true Warrior Priests/Priestesses for the land and for the good of all!

According to Wikipedia, “The term spiritual warrior is used in Tibetan Buddhism for one who combats the universal enemy: self-ignorance (avidya), the ultimate source of suffering according to Buddhist philosophy.”

Sounds in line with our purpose does it not?!  Warriorite has been used as a negativity remedy & energetic repellent. 

” A protective stone against spells which are cast by the negative side of another, Black Tourmaline in quartz not only dispels the spell but energises the victim and actually increases well-being. Black Tourmaline infused with Mica, returns the spell to the originating source and allows one to view the sender of the negative energies.” Explains Melody From her BIG book “Love is in the Earth;  A Kaleidoscope of Crystals”.

So obviously this stone dispels harmful magic and deflects negative energy, hands down, a must have for any witch!

Melody also explains ” The Tourmaline and the inherent electrical emanations have been revered throughout the life of the planet. In rituals performed in the ancient Eastern Indian culture, tourmaline was used to provide direction toward that which would bring “good”; it was also recognized as a “teller” stone providing insight during the times of struggle and “telling” who and/or what is causing trouble.

It’s been used by shamans among the African, Native American, and the Aboriginal tribes. It’s thought to bring healing powers to the user and to provide protection from all dangers occurring on the physical plane. The African shaman would have used the Tourmaline to promote the awakening from the “dream of illusion” and to promote the experience of the self as a part of the universal spirit.” I would say a powerful crystal to use during our Avalon Soul Healing Practice, Astral travels, Scrying & Seership skills, Meditation with the Goddess and any other healing modalities like Crystal healing, Reiki and therapeutic touch.

Schorl clears the environment that it is set in or upon both repelling and protecting against negative energy. It helps to dispel victim mentality, providing physical vitality and emotional stability, assisting you to be unaffected by the world around you.

It is an opaque species which “vacuums up” that which is not needed. Rated 7 hardness on the MOH’s scale this stone is safe to be immersed in water and is best to be cleared frequently for optimum quality!

Black Tourmaline is most definitely a root chakra stone yet can activate and purify,  benefitting all energy centres. Enhancing one’s physical plane and protecting those in the spirit world  who are not in the light and do not understand the love of the universe. Another perfect tool for the death doulas & transformational healers out there!

As Bee Helygen mentions in her Priestess of Cerridwen Training spiral one manual, “Black Tourmaline is a powerful energy purifier. Someone called it a ‘daily disinfectant for the soul’. BT is a semi precious gemstone composed of iron and sodium. Iron was used against attack from the mischievous fairy folk who mess with us humans. Sodium/Salt  has often been used in creating a barrier against evil spirits. Witches. Attack from the psychic realms, the astral realm.” How appropriate  for us Priestesses of Cerridwen  to be  sure that we have this particular stone in our priestess  bag or even more so on our body at all times! True protection and connection!

A stone that can be used to attract inspiration, so perfect for this time in our seasonal spiral.
