Astrology for July 2023 with Janet Parfitt
I may be more than a little biased, but I see Cerridwen as a Goddess of the Stars amongst many other things. To me astrology is part of how She shares Her wisdom with us because knowledge of astrology helps us to achieve understanding and growth. Astrological transits also help us to realise what is going on in the world and how that affects us, both in a personal way and out into the larger universe. Cerridwen understands us at a soul level because She sees the moment we incarnate and all of our life’s journey. She also knows when the current journey we are on in our physical body will end and She will be there to welcome us back to Annwn.
In July the big news is that the nodes of the Moon are changing signs. But July opens with a Full Moon in Capricorn on the 3rd.
Full Moon
This full moon is in the sign of the mountain goat so it’s a really good time to set goals and take practical steps to achieve them. The goat can climb to heights that other animals would struggle to reach so set your sights high. But Capricorns are not unrealistic dreamers. They take practical steps, breaking goals down into baby steps and get on with things. Big dreams are usually achieved by lots of hard work. With this sign, ruled by the unforgiving Saturn, nothing comes easy. But if you do all the work, only then will you get the reward.
On the 10th of July, Mars enters Virgo. So, you may find your energy and drive going into areas like health and bureaucracy. If you want to tidy up and sort things out, this will be a perfect time to do it. It could also be a very good time to start a new fitness regime or diet.
On the 11th Mercury enters Leo so it’s time to think big. This will be an excellent time for marketing yourself as Mercury rules thoughts and plans and Leo is about shining bright on a public stage.
Nodes of the Moon
The nodes of the Moon are not planets, they are mathematical points on the Moon’s axis. The South Node rules where we have come from, our past lives and our childhood selves. It can be like a default setting, in that, it can show how we react under stress. The North Node rules our path forward. It is where we are heading, in this life and the next. Recently the North Node has been in Taurus and the South Node was in Scorpio so our past could seem shadowy and dark, and, in the future, there could have been a lot of focus on money and material gain.
But on the 13th of July, the North Node will change into Aries and the South Node will go into Libra. Libra loves harmony and fairness. It is the sign of the scales, and the scales are a symbol of justice. But because Libra tries to balance everyone’s point of view it can make them very indecisive. If making a decision means someone is going to get hurt, then they might just avoid making a decision at all.
And the North Node in Aries is a time to surge forward with new optimism and energy. Lots of new plans and projects will be started. Aries is a sign of springtime and growth. The ram boldly charges forward but care will be needed not to trample anyone who gets in the way.
The New Moon
On the 17th of July there is a new moon in Cancer. The crab is a sign that likes to crawl into its shell at the first sign of danger. The home and the garden can be important places of refuge at this time. People under this sign can be sensitive and emotional, inclined to sulking, so go easy on yourself.
On the 23rd of July Venus goes retrograde in Leo. When a planet changes direction, it becomes very powerful. Venus in Leo is about expressing your love on a big stage. If you’ve been shy about telling someone how you feel about them, this will change, and you will want to shout your love from the rooftops!
On the same day Chiron also goes retrograde so there could be an emphasis on wounding and healing. It would be a good time to have some treatment, or counselling or anything like that.
Finally, on the 28th of July Mercury enters Virgo bringing order and method into your thinking processes.
So that is July 2023. May it bring you joy and happiness and may the Goddess Cerridwen be with you.
Blessed be.
